Study: Saturdays Most Dangerous for Redbridge Drivers

Traveling in Redbridge on a Saturday? You might want to use extra caution, as research completed by Whites Traffic Management revealed that this was statistically the most likely day for road traffic accidents across the borough.*

The most common month for collisions? October, a month notorious for low light levels and safety hazards like wet leaves and sun glare.

The figures, based on over 10 years of the Department for Transport’s road safety statistics**, indicate that drivers are more likely to experience collisions in Redbridge on a Saturday, with 3-4pm being most likely collision time thorughout the week.

In contrast, the least likely day across Redbridge for crashes is a Sunday, and fewest collisions happened between 5-6am, compared to the rest of the day.

The data also revealed that the peak time and day for road traffic accidents across all of London was a Friday, with October being the most collision-heavy month when taking all boroughs into account.***

Luke Dempson, Head of Communications at Whites Traffic Management, said:

“Transport for London data**** tells us that Londoners take almost 10 million car journeys daily, and it’s important for every one of those drivers to take care on the roads.

“Our research showed that Saturday is the most likely day for a collision to happen in Redbridge. The increased number of cars on the road and a higher number of events and activities happening over the weekend may contribute to these numbers.

“Our passion at Whites Traffic Management is to help our clients ensure that every traffic management project is safe for drivers, pedestrians, and the traffic management operatives involved in directing the flow of traffic.

“These findings highlight just how important it is for traffic management plans across the borough to take the busiest periods on Redbridge’s roads into account.
